About MAC

Monongalia Arts Center "MAC" is a nonprofit arts education and outreach center serving Morgantown and North-Central West Virginia. For 43 years, MAC has provided accessible, affordable exposure to diverse types of arts, and creates space for new ideas and traditions to be born. MAC hosts classes in visual and performing arts and houses the Benedum Gallery, Davis Gallery, Tanner Theatre, and a gift shop featuring unique pieces made by local artists and artisans.


Employment Information

  • $20 / hour 
  • 20-30 hours / week 
  • Hybrid: on-site at MAC + remote

Job RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

MAC is looking to hire an amazing Arts Programming Coordinator to take responsibility for program planning, management, and promotion. This position will be part-time (20-30 hours / week). 


Reports To: Programming Committee Chair and the Board of Directors 

Location: Remote and MAC (107 High Street; Morgantown, WV)

Program Planning and Management

  • Develop a programming plan to implement the MAC’s vision and strategic plan 
  • Oversee the planning, implementation and data-driven evaluation of the MAC’s programs and services as approved by the Board
  • Ensure the programs and services offered by the MAC contribute to the organization’s mission and reflect the priorities and approved budget of the Board 
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services to maintain or improve quality 

Financial Planning and Management

  • Work with staff and the Board to prepare an annual comprehensive budget 
  • Work with Board to ensure that adequate funds are available to permit MAC to carry out its work, through donor identification and cultivation, fund-raising events, grant-writing, and other opportunities
  • Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
  • Administer the funds according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow
  • Provide comprehensive, regular reports on revenue/expenditures

Communications

  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with local/regional/state arts organizations, community groups, media, funders, and agencies
  • Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of org. developments
  • Work with Board, staff, and volunteers to develop to expand the MAC’s visibility and brand recognition through public and media relations, print and web-based programs, and other marketing
  • Oversee publicity for programming
  • Miscellaneous related duties as assigned

Leadership

  • Participate with the Board of Directors in the implementation of the vision and strategic plan
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for MAC programming events
  • Represent MAC at community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile
  • Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of MAC’s work

Education and Experience

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in arts, business, or related field; OR 4 years of relevant experience with nonprofit organizations, for-profits businesses, or relevant industry; OR combination thereof 
  • Energetic, friendly, enthusiastic and independently driven
  • Must demonstrate professional etiquette
  • Strong communication and excellent organizational skills
  • Must be detailed oriented and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be computer savvy and able to learn high-level programs quickly
